what can I really use the recycle bin and the collector for?

any redundant files which you have created or which are copyright-free can be placed into the netdump recycle bin (client) per dragšn drop. you can also place files into the recycle bin which are still needed, however this requires the corresponding option to be selected in the preferences to prevent the data from being erased on your local system. when this option is not selected, the data is moved to the netdump data rubbish tip and erased locally. in this way the netdump recycle bin can be ideally used instead of the windows recycle bin. using the appropriate settings, data erased in this way from your local system can be retrieved from netdump at a later point. along with every file transported to the netdump data rubbish tip, information about the author and packet information (for the currently transmitting file) can be sent also. furthermore, the number of available copies for downloads of every waste package can be chosen freely. either an infinite number of downloads are authorised, or the number of copies is limited.

using the collector it is thus possible to search through all of the data transferred to netdump by various criteria and categories, and download them to your desktop if desired. this process of recycling is intended to establish new creative processes and a virtual, communal workspace. in the future it will be possible to carry out real-time installations, performances and so forth with the use of certain modules fed by data of certain formats streamed directly from netdump. the design of this project was carried out with the development processes of media artists in mind.
