contrary to preconceived concepts around the topic of recycling, gerhard schwoiger¹s netdump provides a forum for the transplantation of discarded creativity into your own work. the original concept of a project specifically for media artists is converging ever more with the idea of upgrading datatrash to artistic material. using client applications and a connection to the internet, you can dispose of your datatrash to NETDUMP and make it available for recycling processes to all other netdump users. the concept allows for maximum scalability of the NETDUMP network. the use of widespread server and protocol technologies provides simplest expandability to netdump.
the NETDUMP RECYCLE BIN (client) sits on top of the recycle bin of the operating system and functionally replaces it. data trashed into the recycle bin are transferred directly to NETDUMP - wrapped in a package containing information about the waste generator and the data themselves - and erased locally.
using the NETDUMP COLLECTOR it is then possible to search through data stored on NETDUMP by a variety of search criteria and download/stream this data to your own computer and recycle it.
a thought-out concept and a high level of complexity are evident in features such as automatic sorting of trash or variable restrictions on the number of downloads of a particular trash package allowed...

zum thema wiederverwertung bildet gerhard schwoigers NETDUMP ein forum der transplantation
von verworfener kreativität in eigene arbeiten. das ursprüngliche
konzept eines projektes speziell für medienkünstler verschwimmt mehr
und mehr mit der idee der aufwertung des datenmülls zu künstlerischem
gedankengut.
mit clients und einer verbindung zum internet ist es möglich den eigenen
produzierten datenmüll auf NETDUMP zu entsorgen und diesen allen anderen
netdumpbenutzern für recyclingprozesse zur verfügung zu stellen. das
konzept sieht maximale skalierbarkeit des NETDUMP netzwerkes vor. die weitverbreitetsten
server und protokoll technologien sorgen für einfachste erweiterbarkeit
von netdump.
der NETDUMP RECYCLE BIN (client) setzt auf den recylce bin (papierkorb) des betriebssystems auf und ersetzt diesen somit auch funtkionell. durch diesen entsorgte daten gelangen - verpackt in ein paket mit informationen zu müllverursacher und zu den daten slebst - direkt auf NETDUMP und werden lokal gelöscht.
mit dem NETDUMP COLLECTOR ist es dann möglich auf NETDUMP abgelagerten datenmüll nach diversen kriterien zu durchsuchen, sich auf das eigene system herunterzuladen/ zu streamen und diesen zu recyclen.
